My 1st Parenting Struggle...The Phase
SEPARATION ANXIETY. Oh My! Mommy can't even look the other way, let alone walk out the room. 101% of my time, energy, smiles, and physical self is to be focused entirely on my son, according to him. If not this happy adventerous smiling 10 month old turns into a screeching, screaming, shaking, tense, little red face, tearful baby boy.
Oh my, oh my...what am I to do? Ignore it and pray he stops...stop everything I need and should be doing to give him what he wants...find something else to entertain him while I do the laundry or wash dishes....put him in the stroller and have accompany to every part of the apartment....I've tried it all.
EXHAUSTING! I pray that this phase passes SOON. From what i've read and heard it's the time in his life when he realizes he is no longer a part of, as he once believed we were one in the same. So when I walk out the room, it's almost like he's just lost in space and mommy might be gone forever because he can't see her. He has to learn, perhaps through games of peek-a-boo that just because he doesn't see something, it doesn't mean it no longer exist.....I guess so. For now i'll just keep saying, "mommy will be right back". Any othe suggestions?
